Flexible Crown Molding

Crown molding size depends on ceiling height and room proportions. For 8' ceilings, use 3-1/4" to 4-1/4". For 9' ceilings, 4-1/4" to 5-1/4" works well. Higher ceilings can accommodate larger profiles.

Crown molding requires compound miter cuts. Use a miter saw with the molding positioned upside down against the fence, or use a compound miter saw with proper angle settings for your wall and ceiling angles.

Cove molding has a simple concave profile, while crown molding typically features more complex profiles with multiple curves and details. Crown molding is generally more decorative.

Backing blocks help provide solid attachment points and make installation easier, especially with larger profiles. They're particularly useful when wall and ceiling framing don't align with molding placement.
