How to Use the Wainscoting Calculator

Style and Height Reference
Wainscoting height traditionally runs about one-third of the total wall height, or to standard chair-rail height around 32-36 inches - tall enough to protect walls from chair backs and foot traffic without overwhelming the room. Raised panel wainscoting echoes a raised-panel cabinet door and reads as more formal and traditional; flat panel is simpler and pairs especially well with Shaker-style cabinetry; beadboard gives a cottage or farmhouse look with its narrow, repeating vertical grooves.
Try to divide your wall length evenly by your chosen panel width so you don't end up with an odd sliver panel at one end - adjust the panel width slightly if needed to get an even split.
